Road To Emmaus

  |   prophetic painting   |   No comment

My friend Anne Hamilton the noted Christian writer, rang me after I had moved into my new house. She said Gen, it’s time we had coffee, and I want to pose a question for you. So we arrange to have coffee at my house.

Anne talked to me about a conversation she had with God about maybe asking me to be her artist for her next book. I was humbled. God said to go and see Gen again and ask her about the Painting she had seen on the wall in my old house.
So She asked me if she could see my Painting of the three people again, please. I was puzzled as I had not painted a picture described like that. I said to her that I hadn’t painted a picture like that. Anne was bewildered, she said, but I saw the Painting on your wall, and it just spoke to me ..it touched me, and I felt God wanted me to ask you to paint for me, but I felt I needed to pray on it. So I have.
I told Anne to go and look at all my paintings on every wall in the house and let me know which one it was. Anne walked around the house, and then she came to me and said, “it’s not here, Gen” I already knew that it wasn’t as I hadn’t painted it …Yet.

Then God places on my heart a question for Anne. He said ask Anne if she could do some lateral thinking, so I did. She looked at me very strangely, and I continued. Well, Anne, maybe God gave you a prophetic vision of the Painting on the wall of my house so you would see it and ask me to be your artist for your next series of books. Anne was shocked and said Well, that is a bit of a stretch in my thinking. And I said, Yes, but God gives us visions; may this may be one of them.

I said to Anne, well, why don’t we both pray on this question and see what he opens up for us.
I will ask God if I am meant to do this and if I am, give me the Painting of the three people to paint, and when I have finished, I will show it to you, and if it is the Painting you saw in your vision, then you can decide if you want me to be your artist for your new books. Anne agreed, so we parted ways.
Over the next few days, I put my worship music on and prayed, and God gave me a vision for the Painting he wanted me to paint, and I painted it. It was effortless with so much joy with every brushstroke I made, and the bible scriptures appeared, and I studied them ….Luke24:13-35

I was painting Jesus walking on the Road to Emmaus after his resurrection, talking to 2 disciples who did not recognize him. This was the “Prophetic Painting” Anne had seen. When I finished it, I called her to come and see what God had given me to paint. Anne was blown away; she said that is the Painting same the same but different. Oh my goodness, that is the Painting. I was hearing from God and trusted what he had put on my heart and painted his Prophetic Vision that he had given both of us.

So Anne Commissioned me to be her artist for her new Books.
This Painting came about by trusting and believing that God had a Vision of this Painting for my life.
God has a funny way of getting us to do exactly what he wants us to do if we are open to hearing from Him.
By prayer and worship, God opens the doorways for more in our lives.

The Prophetic Painting, “The Road to Emmaus,” is a great example of Hearing from God and allowing him to open the door to more in our life where our hearts can be kindled as we journey our own Emmaus.
I learned how to read the scriptures and trust his Plan without fear. To discover that we all have a heart that hopes, eyes to see, ears to listen, and a desire to find full solidarity with every human being we meet along the journey of hope and expectation.
